DESCRIPTION: The name of the VA Admitting Regulation is derived from the United States Code of Federal
Regulations, Title 38. These admitting regulations are utilized to determine a veteran's type of
status at the time of admission to any VA facility. For example, 'Humanitarian Non-Vet' is the
admission of a person who is a non-veteran and is being treated as an emergency until his/her
condition has stablized to the point of being able to transfer to a public facility.
