| DESCRIPTION | The Infection Control report is used by the Laboratory and Infection Control unit to look for increases in the number ofa particular organism or the emergence and spread of a resistantorganism. The report contains patient information, specimen or collectionsample, and all isolates regardless of whether or not they have asensitivity. For a particular accession area and within a specified timerange, 4 separate reports can be obtained. Information can be grouped by:1) location, 2) organism, 3) physician, and 4) patient. A hospital canpre-select the reports, or reports may be selected individually. Eachreport can include all information or be restricted to a single location,patient, etc. All reports can be restricted to a single organism. Asurvey by organism is sorted by the collection sample or site/specimen.All reports can be restricted to include only those patients with alength of stay in the hospital exceeding a specified # of days. This can be helpful in tracking hospital-acquired infections. The reportscan also be restricted to include only those that have specific anti-biotic patterns. |
